FRA's Ringette For All

Ringette For All Initiative

The Ringette For All Initiative was created to ensure that every child in our community has the opportunity to play ringette—regardless of financial circumstances.

We recognize that the cost of sports can sometimes prevent families from registering their children, and we are committed to removing those barriers.

Through this program, eligible families can receive grants of up to $500 per child, per year to help cover registration fees and equipment costs.

Our goal is simple: make ringette accessible, inclusive, and welcoming to every child who wants to play.

What the Program Provides

  • Financial Assistance: Grants of up to $500 per child annually to help cover ringette registration fees and required equipment.
  • Equipment Bank: Qualified families may also access our equipment bank, which offers gently used ringette gear at low or no cost so players can be fully outfitted for the season.
  • Community Support: The program helps ensure that kids who want to play ringette can participate, build friendships, and stay active regardless of financial barriers.

Eligibility

Families may qualify for the program if they are experiencing financial barriers.

This may include families who are:

  • Low income
  • Receiving AISH
  • Currently unemployed
  • Receiving provincial income support

The association considers the social and economic barriers facing each family when determining eligibility.

Grants are available for children and youth ages 5-16 years old who are registering for a local ringette program.

Application Requirements

To apply for assistance, families must submit:

  • Proof of income in the form of a Notice of Assessment for each adult in the household from the most recent tax year
  • Copies can be obtained through the Canada Revenue Agency by calling 1-800-959-8281

All information provided will be kept confidential and used only to determine eligibility for the program.

Our Commitment

The Ringette For All Initiative exists to ensure every child who wants to play ringette has the chance to step on the ice. By reducing financial barriers and providing access to equipment, we hope to grow the sport while building a stronger, more inclusive community.

———

Your Commitment

To help support team expenses such as tournament fees and team events, families are asked to take part in occasional fundraising efforts throughout the season.

These may include activities like bottle drives, ticket sales, or other team initiatives.

These events not only help raise funds but also bring our team families together and strengthen our community.

Families should also be aware that accommodations and meals during away tournaments are the responsibility of each family and are paid out-of-pocket.

Athletes receiving support through this program are expected to attend tournaments and team events whenever possible, helping them fully enjoy the experience of being part of the team.

Application & Funding Process

Families must apply during the player registration process.

Successful applicants will be notified directly by Foothills Ringette Association (FRA). Funding assistance will not be issued directly to applicants.

Approved funds will either:

  • Be applied directly toward the player’s fees with Foothills Ringette Association, or
  • Be reimbursed to the family if season fees have already been paid in full.

This grant program is not awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications are reviewed based on eligibility, available funding, and demonstrated need.

Applicants who apply before the early application deadline may have a greater opportunity for consideration. Applications received after the deadline may still be reviewed if funding remains available.
