Foothills Goalie Development Program

At Foothills Ringette, we are committed to developing confident, skilled goalies while supporting the families who take on this important position.

Our Foothills Goalie Development Program provides specialized goalie instruction throughout the season with Nelson Parkes of Ballistics Goaltending. Goalies who commit to the position and regularly attend our Friday goalie development sessions are also eligible to earn registration credits toward the following season.

New this season, our goalie development sessions will be Foothills-only, providing our goalies with more direct instruction, individualized feedback, and increased ice time with Nelson throughout the year.

Goalie Pathways

Depending on the age division, goalies may participate as either a Part-Time Goalie or Full-Time Goalie pathway, each with its own development opportunities, participation requirements, and registration credits.

U10

Step 2 Goalies

• Friday goalie development sessions are included at no additional cost.
• Regular attendance is encouraged.

Step 3 Goalies

• Play goalie for approximately 25% of team games.
• Regularly attend Friday goalie development sessions.
• Receive a 25% registration credit toward the following season.

U12

Part-Time Goalies

• Play goalie for approximately 25-50% of team games.
• Continue developing as both a goalie and a skater.
• Regularly attend Friday goalie development sessions.
• Receive a 25% registration credit toward the following season.

U14 & U16

Part-Time Goalies

• Play goalie for approximately 25-50% of team games.
• Continue developing as both a goalie and a skater.
• Regularly attend Friday goalie development sessions.
• Receive a 25% registration credit toward the following season.

Full-Time Goalies

• Play goalie for approximately 50-100% of team games.
• Focus primarily on developing as a goalie throughout the season.
• Regularly attend Friday goalie development sessions.
• Receive a 50% registration credit toward the following season.

Please note: Full-time goalies may still share the goalie position with another goalie on their team.

Commitment to the Program

The success of our goalie development program comes from consistent participation throughout the season.

While we understand that occasional absences due to illness or family commitments are unavoidable, goalies are encouraged to make Friday goalie development sessions a priority. Registration credits are awarded to goalies who demonstrate a strong commitment to their goalie pathway and ongoing development throughout the season.

Registration Credits

Registration credits are issued at the end of the season and are contingent upon meeting the participation requirements of the selected goalie pathway, including regular attendance at Friday goalie development sessions.

We are proud to invest in the growth of our goalies and look forward to helping them build confidence, develop their skills, and enjoy the game all season long.
