Join the fastest game on ice! We are inviting new players to discover the excitement, speed, and community of Ringette. If your child loves being on the ice, they’ve found their new home.

Our "Come Try" events are designed to be Fast, Fun, and For Everyone. We provide a supportive, high-energy environment where youth can build confidence, master new skills, and make lifelong friends.

  • Completely Free: These sessions are 100% free to attend.
  • Flexible Schedule: We have five dates scheduled throughout the year across High River, Okotoks, and DeWinton.
  • Come Once or Five Times: Your child is welcome to attend just one session or join us for all five!

What to Bring to Your First Session

We want your first experience on the ice to be easy and stress-free! To participate in our Free Come Try Ringette events, please bring the following:

  • Skates: Any kind of ice skates are perfectly fine for these sessions—whether they are hockey skates or figure skates, just bring what you have!
  • Helmet (Required): A helmet is mandatory to get on the ice. We recommend a CSA-approved helmet; while many players use a cage or mask, it is optional for these introductory sessions.
  • Warm Layers: The rink can be chilly! We recommend a warm sweater or light jacket and comfortable pants (like splash pants or sweats) that allow for easy movement.
  • Gloves or Mittens: Essential for keeping hands warm and protecting fingers while holding the stick.
  • A Water Bottle: Skating is active work! Make sure your athlete stays hydrated.

Equipment Note: We provide the rings and will have sticks available for players to use. If you don't have a full set of gear yet, don't sweat it—for these sessions, just the basics listed above are all you need to get started.

Arrival Time

Please arrive at least 20 minutes before the session start time. This ensures you have plenty of time to get skates laced up and gear ready so that your child is ready to hit the ice the moment the session begins!

Frequently Asked Questions

What age group is this for? Our sessions are designed for children and youth of all ages who are interested in trying a new team sport. If they have an interest in skating, they are welcome!

Do I need to sign up for all five dates? Not at all. You can come to just one session to try it out, or if your child has a blast, you are more than welcome to join us for all five dates in High River, Okotoks, and Dewinton.

Will there be coaches to help? Yes! We will have experienced coaches and players on the ice to help guide new skaters, hand out sticks, and ensure everyone is having a Fast, Fun, and For Everyone experience.

What if my child can't skate well yet? That is perfectly okay. These sessions are about "Discovering a Whole New Game." We focus on fun and participation for all experience levels.
