Concussion Presentation - Information and Resources

Sep. 10, 2025

Follow up message from Sept 8th Concussion Presentation:

Thank you all for coming yesterday to learn more about concussions and the value of baseline testing and thank you Lise for taking the time to organize an educational evening!

I’ve attached a copy of the CRT6. This is an excellent resource for coaches and parents to keep on hand. A few of you asked about situations where a child seems “shaken up” after a fall or hit that wasn’t seen. This tool can help guide that decision, but when in doubt, it’s always best to err on the side of caution.

I’ve also attached Baseline Testing Explained, a short summary of our discussion on why comparing each player to themselves is so important during concussion recovery.

Finally, here is a tutorial https://completeconcussions.com/resources/concussion-tracker-app/ on using the App. I encourage everyone to download it and explore its features. It’s an incredibly useful tool for:

 *   Players: quick access to care, tracking progress, and understanding recovery phases.

 *   Parents/Coaches: tracking progress, completing sideline assessments if a concussion is suspected, and knowing the limitations placed on recovering players as they return to sport.

I have currently reserved Saturday, September 20th for baseline testing for your team at Active Balance Health Centre<https://activebalancehealth.ca> from 8am - 3pm. Please reach out to Lise if you would like your kids to be on that list (indicate a preference for AM or PM) and we will come up with a schedule based on numbers. Lise u10@foothillsringette.com

It includes two of the baseline tests (Neurocognitive test and Balance test). Like I said, if you do nothing else please use those two tests, while more test provide us with better data, doing SOMETHING is always better than doing nothing.

A link for the iPhone version of the app can be found here https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/concussion-tracker/id1166290027

For the Android version you can find it here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.completeconcussions.concussiontracker&utm_source=chatgpt.com

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions. I’m happy to help, or track down answers if I don’t have them right away.

Best,
